On November 2, 2005, the President of Singapore, dignities, the ambassadors of 10 nations together with guests came to Oxley Rise, Singapore to celebrate the 100 anniversary of Chesed-El Synagogue. Re-stored some 3 years ago to its former splendor the Synagogue was resplendent to greet the 300 guests. The Synagogue was full of life and colour. The gold leaf work mingled with white wash blues, brass and marble and wooden benches which spoke of a century past. The ceremony was dignified with a highlight speech that revealed insights to the late founder Sir Manessah Myer and his dream to build the synagogue. The ceremony was followed by a dinner in a tent built inside the property grounds. Over dinner, LCD screens pumped out photos documenting the 100 years of Iraqi Jews in Singapore and Chesed -El.
